Antler Season 2013

My 2013 shed season has officially come to a close.  This past weekend my brother-in-law, Andrew, and I loaded up our bone and cashed it in.  We did pretty good for as little time as we spent looking.  After all the miles and blood, sweat, and tears..... our final tally was.....

9 Days of Looking (roughly 60 hours)
142 lb. of #1 Brown
109 lb. of #2 Hard White
166 lb. of #3 Chalk
417 Total Pounds

Lake Powell Stripers

I KNOW IT'S NOT HUNTING....... BUT WHEN THE FISHING IS THIS GOOD IT'S HARD NOT TO SHARE!!

For my 16th anniversary my wife and I spent last weekend at Lake Powell getting our fish on.  I normally don't waste my free time fishing, but all reports were "snooze ya lose".  So my brothers and sisters-in-law had to check it out for ourselves.  My nephew also joined us since it was his birthday.

This wasn't a fishing trip, this was a "catching" trip.  Both days we caught over 100 fish and ended up filleting 50-60 stripers a day.  We had a blast!  If you have been thinking of going......... just go!  You wont regret it.

 



3C Junior Turkey Season........Last Two Days

 

Watch as Jarom experiences the highs and lows of turkey hunting during the last two days of the Jr. season.  It was a tough season and very few birds.  But we managed to go 3 for 3 in 6 days of hunting.  Enjoy.

3C Junior Turkey Hunting 2013

The AZ turkey season is underway and the Juniors are up.  My good friend, Ben Williams has two boys that drew tags (Jarom and Trevor).  My 2nd daughter, Makenzie also drew a Jr. tag.  So the plan was to get in our scouting then hit the Jr. season hard.  Hopefully we could fill 2 out of the 3 tags before the general season opened.  The first morning, Ben was able to call in 4 jakes to 10 yards and his younger boy, Trevor let the lead fly.

On the 4th morning, Makenzie was able to smell gun powder.  We trolled into a lonely gobbler that traveled a long ways to make our morning a success.  Makenzie shot this bird at 30 yards.

There are still a few days left in the Jr. season, so we are still working on getting Jarom a bird.  We will let you know how that pans out.

More 2013 Shed Hunting Photos

As a kid I used to look forward to spring time and Easter egg hunts.  Now days, it's evolved slightly.  It's still the same basic principle, but the prize has changed from Easter eggs to elk sheds; from candy to cash.

My New Hunting Partner

Well boys I have traded you all in for a new hunting buddy. She is alot better looking than all the partners I have hunted with, she is also the first hunting partner I have ever held hands with while out in the woods, and lastly she sure smells alot better than all of you. My wife Melissa has sporatically gone scouting or just driving around in the woods on and off for several years now, but just this past winter we have had the opportunity to spend more time together since the kids have all grown up.

Just last month on only her second calling stand she had ever sat while holding a gun, she shot her first coyote.   Also this weekend while on her first horn hunting trip she found her first brown horn within the first 15 minutes. She was also with me when we found a pretty nice 7x7 pick up head. Enjoy some pictures of our adventures together and try to get your better half out enjoying what we all love to do so much.
